The Native Trails Story
“I founded Native Trails with a dream of combining artisan heritage, innovative design, and sustainable materials. This is a passion I gratefully live out every day.” ~Naomi Neilson Howard, Founder/CEO
Blazing a Native Trail
In 1996, Naomi founded Native Trails, using her passion for artisan tradition, sustainability, and fair trade practices to bring the work of undiscovered artisans from central Mexico to living spaces throughout North America. Combining the artisans’ age-old traditions with contemporary design and sustainable materials, Naomi broke new ground with Native Trails’ iconic copper sinks, and helped to introduce copper as a mainstay material for the kitchen and bath.
Artisan Crafted from Raw Materials
Under Naomi’s leadership, Native Trails continues to innovate utilizing natural materials like reclaimed barn wood, repurposed wine staves and barrels from local wineries, bamboo, and recycled copper.
Includes four 4″ square artisan-crafted, one-of-a-kind Talavera tile coasters with cork backing; pair perfectly with Spanish Garden Talavera Trivets. Artisans create every tile entirely by hand, using a centuries-old technique that originated in Talavera de la Reina, Spain. Made from a combination of their local clays, hand painted and fired twice at high temperatures, these durable tiles display unequalled intricacy of design.
